Spirit Airlines Grows with Delivery of New Airbus A320

Ultra low cost carrier Spirit Airlines continues to grow as it this week received the first of four new Airbus A320s scheduled for delivery in 2010. The first new A320 began regular daily service on Spirit*s Fort Lauderdale – Washington, D.C. route on Sunday, March 14, 2010. Spirit*s all-Airbus fleet, one of the youngest and most fuel efficient in the Americas with an average age of less than four years, now consists of 26 A319s, 2 A321s and 1 A320, with 3 more A320s scheduled for delivery in 2010. **We are proud to operate one of the youngest, most environmentally-friendly and fuel efficient fleets in the Americas,** says Spirit*s CEO Ben Baldanza. **This allows us to keep our costs low, and we pass these savings along to our customers. Ultra low fares are what our customers have come to expect and what we continue to deliver.**

The new 178-seat A320 features 174 deluxe leather seats and four Big Front Seats. The additional A320s mark a more than 11 percent increase in seats year-over-year for the upcoming summer high travel season.
